Dental Care for San Antonio’s Pets

Your pet's teeth may look healthy enough, but there's a lot that goes on beneath the surface. Plaque buildup often goes unnoticed because it's hard for pet parents to see far into their animals' mouths. Unfortunately, poor dental hygiene leads to plaque and tartar buildup, which causes tooth decay, gum disease, and bad breath.

Left untreated, bacteria from the mouth can enter the bloodstream. This can lead to serious conditions in the liver, heart, and kidneys. Not to mention pain and difficulty eating due to oral disease!

With regular dental check-ups and yearly cleanings, your pet can avoid these issues.

Signs of Dental Disease

Common signs of dental disease can include—but aren't limited to—the following symptoms:

  • Tender mouth
  • Hesitation to eat
  • Bleeding gums
  • Bad breath
  • Weight loss
  • Excessive drooling
  • Discoloration of teeth (yellow/brown)

Our veterinarians pay close attention to every detail of your pet's oral health. We understand how important it is for your furry friends to enjoy clean teeth and a healthy mouth.

Dental Services for Exotic and Traditional Pets

It is recommended that dogs and cats receive a dental cleaning once a year to keep them in optimal health. Our office requires pre-anesthetic bloodwork and a full work-up before a cleaning depending on your pet's species and age, to make sure they are healthy for the procedure. X-rays may be recommended as well, to check below the gumline for diseases or any other oral issues.

We don't just treat dogs and cats—we'll also take care of oral health for rabbits and exotics, too. Our dental services include:
